Cultivation of the Intelect The men of the Alpha Phi chapter are committed to our principle of cultivation of the intellect. Our scholastic endeavors are exemplified in several ways throughout our organization.
Scholarship ChairmanOur chapter elects a scholarship chair to monitor the grades of our members and aid students who are struggling in their classes. Through our Academic Assistance Program, the scholarship chair is able to check up on members that do not meet our grade requirements through signed progress reports from professors. Study sessions usually take place weekly and create a good work environment for people to do their work as well as recieve help. Struggling members are often paired with individuals from the same major in order to help them achieve their potential and better grades.
GPA RequirementGPA is a standard for invitation to join and for membership in the organization. All members are required to maintain a 2.7 GPA to stay in good standing with the chapter and avoid being placed on the Academic Assistance or loosing privileges associated with being a member. We look for more in a potential candidate than just GPA, but it still weighs heavily on our decision to extend an invitation of membership to any man on Virginia Tech's campus.
Rank on CampusOur chapter has consistently been ranked in the top five fraternities at Virginia Tech in grades every semester for the past 4 years. Our pledge classes' have consistently been ranked in the top five in grades of all pledge classes as well. If you have any other questions about academics and it's roll in our chapter please contact our Scholarship Chair.
